BASIC WORKWEEK AND OVERTIME. SECTION 1. Departmental Management will establish the basic workweek and hours of work best suited to meet the needs of the department and provide superior service to the community. SECTION 2. The basic workweek shall be 40 hours. This shall include a basic 8-hour shift. Employees' hourly pay rates shall be calculated according to a 40-hour week. Overtime shall be any hours worked over 40 in a given work week not including pre-shift. Holidays and sick days shall be calculated as if pre-shift was included. The workday shall include a paid one-half (1/2) hour lunch break and two (2) fifteen (15) minute breaks per day. SECTION 3. All required and ordered work performed in excess of the forty (40)-hour weekly schedule (not including pre-shift) shall be considered as overtime and shall be paid at the overtime rate of one and one-half (1-1/2) times the employee's straight time rate of pay. For the purpose of computing overtime, any time more than fifteen (15) minutes but less than thirty (30) minutes shall be computed as one-half (1/2) hour; any time less than forty-five (45) minutes but more than thirty (30) minutes shall be computed as one-half (1/2) hour; any time more than forty-five (45) minutes but less than one (1) hour shall be computed as one (1) hour. SECTION 4. For purposes of overtime computation, actual hours worked, vacation, and administrative leave with pay shall be considered as time worked. All other leaves of absence with or without pay shall not be considered as time worked. SECTION 5. Employees shall be required to work overtime when requested unless excused by supervision. In the event any employee is required to work overtime, he/she will not be required to use annual leave nor be placed in a "Leave Without Pay" status during the basic work period in order to compensate or offset the overtime hours worked or to be worked.

BASIC WORKWEEK AND OVERTIME. SECTION 1A. The basic workweek shall consist of forty (40) hours unless otherwise specified. Departmental Management Department management will establish the basic workweek and hours of work best suited to meet the needs of the department and provide superior service to the community. Nothing in this agreement shall be construed as a guarantee or limitation of the number of hours to be worked per week.
SECTION 2. B. The basic normal workweek of forty (40) hours shall be 40 hoursfrom Monday through Friday of each week. This shall include a basic 8-hour shift. Employees' hourly pay rates However, where management deems it necessary, work schedules shall be calculated according to a 40-hour week. Overtime shall established other than the normal Monday through Friday schedule.
C. Whenever feasible, employees will be any hours worked over 40 in a given work week not including pre-shift. Holidays and sick days shall be calculated as if pre-shift was included. The workday shall include a paid one-half (1/2) hour lunch break and notified at least two (2) fifteen (15) minute breaks per dayweeks in advance of a transfer, reassignment or change of shift.
SECTION 3. All required and ordered work performed in excess of the forty (40)-hour weekly schedule (not including pre-shift) shall A. Employees covered by this agreement must be considered as overtime and shall be paid compensated at the overtime rate of one and one-half (1-1/21½) times the employee's straight time their regular hourly rate of paypay for all hours worked in excess of the 40 hours in a workweek. For Overtime must be authorized by the purpose of Department Director in advance. All employees are required to punch in and out to accurately record all hours worked, consistent with the City’s Time and Attendance Policy 4-11. Time off due to sick leave or leave not requested and approved forty-eight (48) hours (two (2) working days) in advance shall not be included as “time worked” in computing overtime, any time more than fifteen the forty (1540) minutes but less than thirty (30) minutes hours workweek. Holiday hours shall be computed as included in the computation of overtime. No employee shall suffer any reduction in his/her normal scheduled hours of work to preclude the payment of overtime. However, an employee’s hours of work may be changed upon required contractual notice of the change.
B. The City shall offer overtime on a rotating basis first to qualified employees within the same division.
Section 3. An employee shall be paid for a minimum of two and one-half (1/22½) hour; any time less than forty-five (45) minutes but more than thirty (30) minutes hours for scheduled overtime that is not a continuation of his/her regular workday or is not standby or call out as set forth in Article 24, Section 4 of this agreement.
A. In lieu of overtime pay, an employee, at his/her request shall be computed as permitted to accumulate compensatory time at a rate of time and one-half (1/2) hour; any for each hour of overtime worked. The accumulation of compensatory time more than forty-five (45) minutes but less than one (1) hour shall be computed as one limited to a maximum balance of eighty (180) hourhours. Use of compensatory time shall be granted within a reasonable period after making such request unless it unduly disrupts the City’s ability to provide services of acceptable quality and quantity for the public during the time requested; department considerations shall include but may not be limited to the (a) the normal schedule of work, (b) anticipated peak workloads based on past experience, (c) emergency requirements for staff and services, and (d) the availability of qualified substitute staff.
SECTION B. An employee must notify their immediate supervisor in accordance with time keeping policy 4-11 for use of compensatory time at least two (2) work days prior to use. For purposes of overtime computation, actual hours worked, vacation, and administrative leave with pay shall be considered as time worked. All other leaves of absence with or without pay shall not be considered as time worked.
SECTION 5. Employees shall be required to work overtime when requested unless excused by supervision. In the event any employee is required to work overtime, he/she Leave will not be required denied without just cause. If the leave request cannot be granted due to use annual leave nor minimum staffing requirements, the employee may request payment in lieu of the requested time off. Payment shall be placed received in a "Leave Without Pay" status during the basic work regular pay check for the pay period in order to compensate or offset which the overtime time off would have been granted.
C. During October 1 and September 30 of each year, employees will not exceed 80 hours worked or to be workedof compensatory time usage.
