Backward Secrecy. The backward secrecy of a group key agreement protocol allows the new member(s) to join in a group and develop new group key without providing the scope for generating any previous group session key to the new members so that they cannot access the previ- ous group conversations. The proposed protocol provides backward secrecy as the new member Un+1 not able to calculates previous group session key SK because it re-
Backward Secrecy. Backward secrecy, as defined in Section 3.2, ensures that a new member who knows the current group key cannot derive any previous group key. In other words, backward secrecy prevents new joining users from accessing previous group content. Backward secrecy is achieved in the active user tier through the member join operation (described in Section 3.4). previous group content, and an adversary is in the same situation. Backward secrecy is guaranteed in virtual clusters.
Backward Secrecy. Backward secrecy is a property such that a new addition to a group is unable to decrypt information created prior to their introduction. In the key agreement phase of our protocol, the common group key can only be computed successfully by authenticated ve- hicles because the common group key is computed using public keys and private keys of authenticated vehicles. So any un-authenticated vehicle or the adversary can not compute the common group key, so that backward secrecy is guaranteed.
Backward Secrecy. Theorem 3: Under the DDH assumption, the proposed GKA protocol provides backward secrecy when the old lead vehicle wants to be changed.
