Approval for Part-time Academic Employment. Upon completion of the actions stipulated in13.3, the department head (or designee) and Xxxx (or designee) shall interview the applicant. (The department head may also include members of the department in the interview.) If both the department head and xxxx approve the applicant to teach the courses designated by operation of Section 13.2 above, the applicant may be employed by the District to teach them. If the department head and xxxx cannot agree, however, the matter shall be referred in writing to the Vice President of Instruction and Student Services, who shall make a final determination after consultation with both the department head and the xxxx. The determination shall be in writing and shall specify the grounds for it. Except in emergency situations (addressed in 13.5 below), no individual may teach courses on a part-time basis for the District unless he or she has been approved in accordance with the requirements of this Article. Copies of applications, department approval and the Xxxx approval will be maintained in the supervising Xxxx or Director’s office and made available to the Chair of the approving department, Human Resources or the Vice-President for Instruction and Student Services.
