Altruistic motivational factor Sample Clauses

Altruistic motivational factor. Some studies suggest a third factor may keep teachers motivated to stay in teaching profession. The third category which encourages teachers is altruistic motives such as devotion to teaching in order to help children to become useful people and accepting teaching as a noble and important profession in society (Xxxxxx, et al., 2009). Altruistic motivation in becoming a teacher was indicated as one of the important motivational factors among pre-service teachers (Han, Xxxxxxxxx & Xxxxxxxxx, 2018). It is certainly difficult to define what really motivates teachers as it depends on the context in which teachers are working (Xxxxxxxxxx, Xxxxxxxxxx & Xxxx, 2014). For example, novice teacher motivation could be different from that of an experienced teacher. Xxxxxxxxxx, et al., (2014) noted that motivation changes with context. Their findings pointed that those pre- service teachers whose motivation was initially positive felt a decline in job satisfaction and low motivation in staying in the teaching profession when they confronted challenges in schools. Therefore, it is important to explore the current school context and reforms, as policies are another factor that affects teachers’ motivation.
