Alternate Payees Clause Samples
The Alternate Payees clause defines the rights and procedures for individuals other than the primary participant to receive benefits or payments under a plan or agreement. Typically, this applies in contexts such as divorce or child support, where a court order or legal agreement designates a spouse, former spouse, child, or other dependent as an alternate payee. The clause outlines how and when payments are made to these individuals, ensuring compliance with legal requirements. Its core function is to provide a clear mechanism for distributing benefits to parties entitled by law, thereby preventing disputes and ensuring proper allocation of funds.
