Seriously Emotionally Disturbed definition

Seriously Emotionally Disturbed or "SED" means, a child through seventeen (17) years of age who has utilized the following during the twelve (12) month period prior to scheduled enrollment:
Seriously Emotionally Disturbed is defined by Welfare and Institutions Code, Section 5600.3(a)(2) as a minor under the age of 18 years who has a mental disorder as identified in the most recent edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of mental disorders, other than a primary substance use disorder or developmental disorder, which results in behavior inappropriate to the child’s age according to expected developmental norms. Members of this target demographic shall meet one or more of the following criteria:

Examples of Seriously Emotionally Disturbed in a sentence

  • Persons who are determined to be Seriously and/or Persistently Mentally Ill or Seriously Emotionally Disturbed by TennCare are exempt from limitations on substance abuse services.

Seriously Emotionally Disturbed means those children described in Welfare and Institutions Code Section 5600.3(a)(2).
Seriously Emotionally Disturbed or "SED" means, an individual through seventeen (17) years of age who meets the criteria established by the Commissioner of Mental Health, including children and adolescents who have a designated diagnosis of mental illness under the most recent edition of the diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders, and (1) whose severity and duration of mental illness results in substantial functional disability or (2) who require mental health services on more than an incidental basis.
Seriously Emotionally Disturbed means minors under the age of 18 who have a mental disorder as identified in the most recent edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, other than a primary substance use disorder or developmental disorder, which results in behavior inappropriate to the child’s age according to expected developmental norms. Members of this target population shall meet one or more of the following criteria:
Seriously Emotionally Disturbed means those children from birth up to age 18 who meet diagnostic requirements as set forth by the ADHS.
Seriously Emotionally Disturbed means those children from birth up to age 18 who meet diagnostic requirements as set forth by the ADHS and who have functional impairment which substantially interferes with or limits achieving or maintaining one or more developmentally appropriate social, behavioral, cognitive, communicative, or adaptive skills. DSM IV "V" codes, and substance use are excluded, unless they co-occur with another diagnosable serious emotional disturbance.
Seriously Emotionally Disturbed or "SED" means, a child through seventeen (17) years of age who has utilized the following during the twelve (12) month period prior to scheduled enrollment: - ten (10) or more encounters, including visits to a mental health clinic, psychiatrist or psychologist, and inpatient hospital days relating to a psychiatric diagnosis; or - one (1) or more specialty mental health visits (i. e., psychiatric rehabilitation treatment program; day treatment; continuing day treatment; comprehensive case management; partial hospitalization; rehabilitation services provided to residents of Office of Mental Health (OMH) licensed community residences and family-based treatment; and mental health clinics for seriously emotionally disturbed children).
Seriously Emotionally Disturbed means persons who have been identified by the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities or its designee as meeting the criteria provided below:
