CHAPTER 6POST-GRADUATE MEDICAL EDUCATION BOARD (PGMEB) 21.Composition and Constitution of PGMEB(1) The Central Government shall, by notification, establish a body to be called the Post-Graduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB) to exercise the powers conferred on, and to perform functions assigned to it under this Act.
Where the Under-Graduate Medical Education Board or the Post-Graduate Medical Education Board, as the case may be, decides to grant recognition to a medical qualification, it shall include such medical qualification in the list maintained by it and also specify the date of effect of such recognition.
The Commission shall examine the appeal received under sub-section ( 5) within a period of two months and if it decides that recognition may be granted to such medical qualification, it may direct the Under-Graduate Medical Education Board or the Post-Graduate Medical Education Board, as the case may be, to include such medical qualification in the list maintained by that Board, in such manner as may be specified by the regulations.
The Under-Graduate Medical Education Board or the Post-Graduate Medical Education Board, as the case may be, shall examine the application for grant of recognition to a medical qualification within a period of six months in such manner as may be specified by the regulations.
