Determining Physician definition

Determining Physician means a physician satisfactory to both the Executive and the Company who is appointed by the Company for the purpose of determining Executive’s Disability; provided, however, that if the Employee and the Company do not agree on a physician, the Employee and the Company shall each select a physician and these two together shall select a third physician who shall serve as the Determining Physician and whose determination as to Disability shall be final and conclusive for all purposes of this Agreement.

A specialist physician may provide specialized treatment for the compensable injury or illness and give advice or an opinion regarding the treatment being rendered, or considered, for a patient’s compensable injury.

  • Physician means a licensed practitioner of medical, surgical, dental, services or the healing arts including accredited Christian Science Practitioner, acting within the scope of his/her license. The treating physician cannot be the Insured, a Traveling Companion, a Family Member, or a Business Partner.

  • Pharmacist means an individual licensed by this state to compound and dispense drugs, prescriptions, and poisons.

  • Clinical psychologist means a person who practices clinical psychology as defined in § 54.1-3600.

  • Doctor means a licensed health care provider acting within the scope of his or her license and rendering care or treatment to a Covered Person that is appropriate for the conditions and locality. It will not include a Covered Person or a member of the Covered Person’s Immediate Family or household.

  • Peer-reviewed medical literature means a published scientific study in a journal or other publication in which original manuscripts have been published only after having been critically reviewed for scientific accuracy, validity and reliability by unbiased independent experts, and that has been determined by the international committee of medical journal editors to have met the uniform requirements for manuscripts submitted to biomedical journals. Peer-reviewed medical literature does not include publications or supplements to publications that are sponsored to a significant extent by a pharmaceutical manufacturing company or health carrier.
