  • Referee means a person who is designated as a referee under the friend of the court act.

  • Clinical review criteria means the written screening procedures, decision abstracts, clinical protocols, and practice guidelines used by a health carrier to determine the necessity and appropriateness of health care services.

  • psychiatric emergency medical condition means a Mental Disorder that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity that it renders the patient as being either of the following:

  • Emergency medical responder or “EMR” means an individual who has successfully completed a course of study based on the United States Department of Transportation’s Emergency Medical Responder Instructional Guidelines (January 2009), has passed the psychomotor and cognitive examinations for the EMR, and is currently certified by the department as an EMR.

  • Specialist medical practitioner means a specialist as defined in section 3 of the Health Insurance Act 1973.

  • DHHS means the Department of Health and Human Services.

  • Chinese Medicine Practitioner means a Chinese medicine practitioner who is duly registered with the Chinese Medicine Council of Hong Kong pursuant to the Chinese Medicine Ordinance (Cap. 549) of the laws of Hong Kong, but excluding the Insured Person, the Policyholder, an insurance intermediary, an employer, employee, Immediate Family Member or business partner of the Policyholder and/or Insured Person.

  • Clinical nurse specialist means a registered nurse with relevant post-basic qualifications and 12 months’ experience working in the clinical area of his/her specified post-basic qualification, or a minimum of four years’ post-basic registration experience, including three years’ experience in the relevant specialist field and who satisfies the local criteria.

  • Medical assessment means an assessment of a patient’s medical condition secured by our Assistance Company working in conjunction with the Medical Evacuation Provider’s medical director and in collaboration with the attending physician. The Assistance Company in collaboration with the Medical Evacuation Provider, will utilize the assessment to determine at its sole discretion whether a Plan Holder is fit to fly; the most appropriate means to provide medical evacuation; the medical personnel who will be accompanying the patient on the transport; and to confirm the medical facility closest to one’s home can meet their medical needs. If the patient’s medical facility of choice is unable to provide the high level of medical care required by the patient, arrangements will be made to transport the patient to the appropriate medical facility closest to their home, or closest to patient's preferred medical facility in the US when possible.

  • Appellate Decision-maker means a person who considers and decides appeals of determinations regarding responsibility and dismissals of formal complaints. The Appellate Decision-maker cannot be the same person as the Title IX Coordinator, Investigator, or Decision-maker. The Appellate Decision-maker may be a school district employee, or a third party designated by the school district.

  • Qualified Medical Practitioner means any person legally authorized by the Government with jurisdiction in the geographical area of his or her practice to render medical or surgical service, but excluding a qualified medical practitioner who is the Insured Person or an Immediate Family Member of the Insured Person.

  • Accounting Referee has the meaning set forth in Section 6.01(c).

  • OIG means the Office of Inspector General of the United States Department of Health and Human Services or any other regulatory body which succeeds to the functions thereof.

  • Independent educational evaluation means an evaluation conducted by a qualified examiner who is not employed by the public agency responsible for the education of the child in question.

  • Credentialed Evaluator For purposes of this policy, each teacher subject to evaluation will be evaluated by a person who:

  • Deputy means any person employed by the department designated as a deputy, who possesses special, technical, scien- tific, managerial or personal abilities or qualities in matters within the jurisdiction of the department, and who may be engaged in the performance of duties under the direction of the secretary, calling for the exercise of such abilities or qualities.

  • Medical Specialist means any medical practitioner who is vocationally registered by the Medical Council under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 in one of the approved branches of medicine and who is employed in either that branch of medicine or in a similar capacity with minimal oversight.

  • County Political Party Committee means a committee organized pursuant to N.J.S.A. 19:5-3.
