Working in Higher Classification. Where an employee is requested to perform the work of a position classified at a higher level in the absence of an incumbent, on a temporary basis, they are to be considered “acting” in that higher position. While an employee has temporarily assumed the duties of the higher ranked position for more than fifteen (15) consecutive days and a Human Resource Action Form has been submitted and approved by the appropriate parties, the “acting” employee will be paid at a higher rate during this period retroactive to day one in the post. When the position is filled, the employee shall be returned to their regular rate of pay.
