Wave 3. From the DER perspective, Wave 3 will operate in a similar manner to Wave 2. There are key features that should be noted: Wave 3 will only commence if National Grid determines that the Service is competitive with options already available to it on the transmission system. This decision will be made available to Providers and the wider market Power Potential services, if accepted, will be used to help secure the system Wave 3 bids will be met from National Grid’s business as usual budget rather than the Power Potential trial budget Availability and Utilisation bids will be assessed in line with the cost of alternative actions National Grid will only accept the DERMS volumes where the price is as cost effective as alternatives available to it, meaning that some (or all) DER may not be accepted if they cannot reduce their bids to a competitive level.
