Common use of Voluntary Education Clause in Contracts

Voluntary Education. Attendance at programs not considered mandatory are, therefore, voluntary and will not normally be compensated. If, however, it is determined by the Director or Senior Manager that attendance by the employee at the program would benefit the Hospital, registration and/or paid time may be provided, subject to the availability of budgeted funds in the department and Hospital. Employees may be required to attend voluntary education programs on their own time and/or be required to modify their normally scheduled hours so that attendance at the program will not interfere with the employee’s work or departmental work schedule.
