Voluntary Demotion. An employee who takes a voluntary demotion shall retain their present salary unless that salary exceeds the maximum rate of pay for the new position in which case the employee’s salary shall be adjusted down to the new maximum. An employee who voluntarily demotes to a previously held classification within six (6) months of accepting a promotion will be returned to their previous wage had they not left the classification plus any applicable wage adjustments in accordance with Article 23, Section 3.
