Variable Working Hours. Employees will be requested each month to select their standard work period for the following month. The work week for 40 hour per week workers will consist of five, eight hour days, Monday to Friday. The work week for 37.5 hour per week workers will consist of five seven and one half hour days, Monday through Friday. The hours of work selected must be in accordance with the observation of core working hours of 9:00 a.m. to 11:45 and 1:15 to 3:00. Employees may select a starting time which is not earlier than 7:00 a.m. and not later than 9:00 a.m. or at 1/4 hour intervals prior to that. Their finishing time will not be earlier than 3:00 p.m. They may select either a 30, 45, 60, 75 or 90 minute lunch period to be taken between 11:45 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. The hours of work selected are subject to the supervisor's approval. The supervisor may, if necessary, restrict some employees to the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00pm (for 40 hour per week employees) and 8:00 am to 4:30 pm (for 37.5 hour per week employees). The supervisor may not assign 40 hour per week employees to hours outside 7:30am to 5:00pm and 37.5 hour per week employees to hours of work outside of 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, except as provided for in Part 'B', Section 4.0 - Overtime. Where in the Company’s opinion, a work unit cannot be operated satisfactorily under variable working hours, they will not be implemented in that unit. Individual deviation from selected work schedules will require the supervisor's prior approval.

Variable Working Hours. 41.1 The company may offer employees an option to work variable working hours in lieu of the hours arrangements set out in this agreement. Schedule 2 contains the conditions applicable to employees who participate in the Variable Working Hours scheme.

  • Shortfall of Annual Working Hours There shall be no pay back for shortfall of annual working hours in the shift systems determined in this Agreement.
