Use of Undercover Social Media Accounts. 160. The Parties recognize the value of MPD using “undercover social media accounts” in a lawful, non-discriminatory manner; this may include “following” and “engaging with” other social media accounts to establish a credible undercover social media profile. MPD will continue to maintain a policy that all undercover social media accounts are registered with the Commander of the Strategic Information Center. MPD will require: authorization for the use of undercover social media accounts; procedures for collecting and/or maintaining any information developed or obtained through those accounts; regular supervisory review of those accounts; and periodic assessment of the use of undercover social media accounts by MPD’s Review Panel.
