Urbanizing area Sample Clauses

Urbanizing area. An urbanizing area is one defined as a community which is not now or within the foresee- able future not likely to be clearly sep- arate from and independent of a city of 50,000 or more population and its imme- diately adjacent urbanized areas. A community will be considered as ‘‘sep- arate from’’ when it is separated from the city and its immediately adjacent urbanized area by open country, less densely settled areas or natural bar- riers such as forests or water. Minor open spaces such as airports, industrial sites, recreational facilities or public parks will be disregarded. A commu- nity will be considered as ‘‘independent of’’ when its social and economic struc- ture (e.g., government, education, health and recreational facilities; busi- ness, industry, tax base and employ- ment opportunities) is not primarily dependent on the city and its imme- diately adjacent urbanized area.
