Temporary Assignment Pay. When the appointing authority determines it is necessary to cover a position from which the incumbent is absent or which is temporarily vacant for any reason, the appointing authority may assign an employee in a lower class to temporarily perform the duties of the vacant position in a higher class in accordance with the following:

Temporary Assignment Pay. Employees temporarily assigned to a lower rated job or title shall be paid at their base rate of pay. Employees temporarily assigned, who work a minimum of 2 hours a day at a higher rated position or job title shall be paid at the appropriate base rate of the higher rated position for the actual hours worked plus applicable differentials as defined in Article 24.
