Special Trips. 1. A roster of drivers by Seniority Order and an “Uncompleted Field Trip Report” is to be maintained and posted each Monday by 9:00 a.m. This report will list available trips for the period of Monday through Sunday of the following week. Drivers have the opportunity to sign up for trips by number from the posted field trip report. The sign-up sheet will be removed by the Supervisor/Designee on Thursday. Trips are to be awarded on a rotating basis, starting with the most senior driver each week. All drivers not desiring a trip have the option of deleting their name from the list. A completed field trip report will be posted by the closing of the office on Friday. Please note that in the event of school being closed, (i.e.) in-service days, holiday’s etc., trips will be done on the last day that school is in session for that week. 2. Trips that require a driver involving a vehicle (other than a bus) to haul/move commodities (non-students), shall be offered to members currently employed in the Classification Delivery Driver before being posted for all drivers. Available regular drivers will have first choice for special trips. 3. Trips that need to leave before regular drivers are available may be given to available substitute drivers. Drivers should not sign up for trips that interfere with their regular route times unless driver has made prior arrangements with Transportation Supervisor/Designee because there is a change in that driver’s route for that day,(i.e.) that driver’s school is on break or not in session that day. 4. There shall be no trading of special trips except in case of an emergency (i.e., death or illness in the family), or in the event of a last minute time change which will then be at the discretion of the Transportation Supervisor/Designee. Otherwise, the trip shall be reassigned to the next person on the list. 5. If a trip is cancelled and later rescheduled, that trip should be awarded to the originally assigned driver, providing it does not interfere with a run scheduled to that driver in the interim. 6. All trips may be paid from 30 minutes before scheduled leave time to 30 minutes after the bus is in the garage for cleanup. 7. Special Trips. 1Bus drivers will drive special trips, with student numbers of fourteen (14) or greater. Trips of thirteen (13) or less will be assigned at the discretion of the supervisor when needed. Special trip assignments will be made according to A through D below. Regular drivers cannot normally bid off their regular runs to take special trips. If a special trip assignment will place a driver into overtime hours, that driver is removed from the special trips assignment process until all drivers and substitute drivers have reached overtime status or no substitute drivers are available. If all drivers and substitute drivers are at overtime status, overtime will be assigned to regular drivers following the procedure outlined below. A. There shall be a special trip roster established with drivers listed in seniority order. Special trips will be offered in rotation beginning with the most senior driver. There shall be a minimum of drivers by Seniority Order two (2) hours driving time on all special trips. B. All special trips will be posted for a period of at least five (5) working days. The special trip posting will be removed on each Thursday morning at 9:00 AM and an “Uncompleted Field Trip Report” cannot be signed after removal. The posting shall state the approximate time duration of each special trip. Each driver who is to be maintained interested in performing a special trip, with time duration in consideration, may sign his/her name for a particular special trip during the posting period. Except in cases of emergency and posted each Monday by 9:00 a.m. This report will list available run conflicting trips, all special trips for the period next work week will be assigned once per week on Thursday, beginning at 9:15 AM. Drivers must be present at the time of Monday through Sunday assignment to accept and be granted a special trip. Drivers absent on the assignment day due to illness, routing, or tripping, only , must confirm their availability, in writing or by telephone, for special trips to the Transportation office or the Union ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇, by 9:00 AM on the day of assignment or will be considered ineligible. Assignment of special trips during extended school breaks (I.e. Christmas recess, Spring break) will be assigned to eligible driver(s) at the trip meeting preceding the extended break period. Drivers arriving late will not be allowed to select trips unless the delay was job-related. If the school week ends prior to Thursday, the trip meeting will be held on the last workday of the following week. If no driver accepts the trip, the Employer may assign the lowest seniority driver on the special trip roster for the trip. D. When a special trip comes in less than seventy-two (72) hours prior to the trip date, the trip will be placed on the emergency trip board. Special Trips. Administrative Rules 1. Drivers will be added to the trip board only on the first day of school and first day of the second semester. A roster bus driver may also add his/her name to the trip board on his/her first anniversary date of drivers by Seniority Order and an “Uncompleted Field Trip Report” is hire. The driver who did not show up for the trip may be awarded subject to disciplinary action. 9. An emergency trip is a trip that comes in after each Thursday trip has been assigned. When an emergency trip comes in, the transportation supervisor will select a person from the emergency trip list in rotation. If the person cannot take the trip, the transportation supervisor will move to the originally assigned drivernext person on the list until someone can take the trip. The next time an emergency trip comes up, providing it the transportation supervisor will start from where he left off on the list until someone takes the trip. The token will move each time. 10. Bus drivers holding dual classification status shall be allowed to sign up for all special trips as their rotation occurs if such a special trip does not interfere with a run scheduled to that driver another regular assignment in the interimdistrict. 611. Special Trips. 1.
