Shift Differential and Weekend Premium Clause Samples

The "Shift Differential and Weekend Premium" clause establishes additional pay rates for employees who work outside of standard business hours or during weekends. Typically, this clause specifies that employees working evening, night, or weekend shifts receive a percentage increase or flat-rate premium added to their regular wages. For example, a nurse working a night shift or a technician scheduled on a Saturday may earn extra compensation per hour. The core function of this clause is to incentivize employees to cover less desirable shifts and to fairly compensate them for working during times that are generally considered inconvenient or outside the normal workweek.
