Scope and Purpose. 1.01 The general purpose of this agreement is to establish collective bargaining relations between the Company and the Union, to continue the co-operation and spirit of good will between the Company and its employees, to provide machinery for the prompt disposition of grievances arising under this agreement, and to set forth negotiated conditions of employment for all employees who are subject to the provisions of this agreement. The Union recognizes that in order to provide a proper relationship between the parties, the Company must be kept in a strong competitive market position, which means it must produce at the best possible efficiency and lowest cost, consistent with fair labour standards, and the Union agrees to support the Company in attaining such objectives.
