The Schedule/Shift Changes clause defines the procedures and conditions under which an employer may alter an employee’s work schedule or shift assignments. Typically, this clause outlines the required notice period for changes, any limitations on frequency or timing, and may specify how employees are informed or compensated for last-minute adjustments. Its core function is to provide a clear framework for managing operational needs while protecting employees from unexpected or unfair scheduling practices.
Schedule/Shift Changes. The State will provide Unit 16 employees with thirty (30) calendar days advance notice of permanent schedule or shift changes when such changes are made at other than the employee's request. The department head or designee shall provide the employee with a reason for the change in writing, at the time the employee is notified of the change. Changes in schedules or shifts shall not be unreasonable.
