Room Assignments. A. The University agrees to consider information included in the housing preferences portion of the Housing Contract when determining roommate assignments. However, no guarantee of a specific assignment is implied. B. Housing assignments are considered final for the entire duration of the housing contract except as otherwise provided by University policy. C. If a resident does not plan to return to campus housing for the following quarter or has a change of assignment for the following quarter, the resident must move out and check out prior to the last day of the previous quarter occupancy. D. If a vacancy occurs in the assigned room, the office of Housing and Residence Life will notify the remaining resident of one of these possible outcomes: 1. A new resident will move into the room; 2. The remaining resident will be asked to move into another under occupied room; or 3. The remaining resident will be notified they will remain in their room until an acceptable roommate match comes available. E. The resident agrees that, should they fail to occupy the assigned room by noon on the first day of the quarter, the resident’s assignment to a particular room may be forfeited unless prior written approval is granted by Housing and Residence Life. In such a forfeiture of assignment space, the resident agrees to accept other available housing accommodations. Failure to move in does not change the financial obligation of this contract. F. (D) The Resident understands and agrees that the Office of University Housing makes all room assignments in accordance with the University Affirmative Action Policy. Northern Kentucky University does not discriminate based on national origin, but not limited torace, Americans color, age, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, religion, political affiliation, physical or mental disability, genetic information, pregnancy, and Uniform Services or veteran status. This policy is in compliance with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance, student conduct, catastrophe, renovation or closing state and federal guidelines and is enforced as a matter of facility, consolidation of vacancies, unavailability of space, irresolvable incompatibility of roommates, unpaid housing charges, facility maintenance, or at the written request philosophy of the residentUniversity in seeking a diverse student body.
G. (E) The resident Resident agrees to observe the hall/room change procedures procedure established by the University and to have prior written approval as required in the room change process, before making a change of hall and/or room assignment.
(F) The University reserves the right to make room assignments, to authorize or deny room and roommate changes, to consolidate vacancies, and to require a student to move from one room or residence hall/apartment to another. Requests for private room will be approved on a first-come, first-served basis provided space is available.
(G) The University reserves the right to modify room assignments for disciplinary reasons, catastrophe, facility related concerns, unresolved incompatibility of roommates, and to cancel or terminate this Agreement for disciplinary reasons (See XVI).
(H) If housing demand exceeds room capacity, the University will maintain a waiting list of Housing/Dining Agreements with prepayments. Residents who do not receive a room assignment initially are automatically placed on a waiting list. Vacancies will be filled from the waiting list in order of application date and priority status.

Students are not allowed to swap rooms or make individual arrangements with other students or student staff members to change rooms. In Single Student Housing, Americans most rooms require shared occupancy, and by accepting an assignment, you are agreeing to communicate and live cooperatively with Disabilities Act (ADA) complianceyour roommate(s), to be respectful of their differences, and to agree on living habits. Students are not released from contract because of roommate conflicts. Students with roommate conflicts are expected to work with their roommates and their Residence Deans in Undergraduate Housing or Graduate Life Office Deans in Graduate Housing to resolve differences. After the first round of the Draw, room assignments for those assigned in the Draw are normally made through an in-house procedure that is approved through Residential Education and R&DE Student Housing Assignments and led by Residential Education student conductstaff and professional staff. Room assignments after the Draw are made by R&DE Student Housing Front Desk Supervisors based on vacancies. Gender-inclusive room assignments are allowed in designated locations in undergraduate housing as announced during the annual spring Draw process. Room assignments will take place during the in-house draw process. Students must select their own roommates from students assigned to the house and file a gender-inclusive housing petition in Axess in order to participate in the program. Students in romantic relationships should apply for couples housing as gender- inclusive housing is not for students in romantic relationships. Students who have signed up for theme, renovation or closing of facility, consolidation of vacancies, unavailability of space, irresolvable incompatibility of roommates, unpaid housing charges, facility maintenancefocus, or at co-op houses must meet the written request of eligibility requirements for the resident.
G. The resident agrees to observe the hall/room change procedures established house and must participate in activities required by the University and to have written approval before making a change of hall and/or room assignmenthouse program. A. The University agrees to provide the resident with the following room furniture and furnishings: one extra-long single bed, one mattress, one desk with hutch, chair, a wheeled filing cabinet, one dresser, and closet space. Each room includes a bathroom with a toilet, sink, and shower.
B. Bed lofting and bunking kits may be requested for an additional fee from Housing and Residence Life on a first come, first served basis. All other lofts are prohibited.
