Return to Work Program. (a) The University and the Union are committed to facilitating the reintegration of employees to the workplace in a fair and consistent manner, as soon as is reasonably possible. The University will administer a comprehensive Return to Work Program in consultation with the Union, that includes early intervention and accommodation to assist employees in returning to work following extended absences due to illness or injury. (b) The Return to Work Program may be initiated by the University, the Union, the employee, or by a third party such as WCB, ICBC or the LTD Carrier. Specific services offered will depend on each employee’s situation and needs. Each situation will be evaluated, and where appropriate, an individualized return to work plan will be developed in consultation with the employee, the designated Union Official, the department, the Associate Vice President of Human Resources, or designate, and health professionals as appropriate. (c) For further information about the Return to Work Program reference should be made to the Benefits Information Handbook for Office, Technical and Child Care Employees available from the Human Resources Department.
