The Recognized Teaching Experience clause defines which prior teaching roles or positions are formally acknowledged by an institution or employer for purposes such as salary placement, promotion, or meeting qualification requirements. Recognized Teaching Experience. Previous teaching experience with this Board or its predecessor Boards, documented by the appropriate Board will be honoured provided it was for a long-term occasional assignment. For short-term work assignments since January 1, 1991 the total days worked will be credited as follows: 20 days or more = 1 grid step 80 days or more = 2 grid step 10 5 40 days or more = 1 grid step 100 days or more = 1 grid step 5 2 60 days or more = 3 grid step 120 days or more = 3 grid step 10 5 140 days or more = 7 grid step 10 160 days or more = 4 grid step 5 180 days or more = 9 grid step 10 190 days or more = full grid step All days accumulated that are less than a full 1/10 step shall be carried forward to the following school year for credit.
Recognized Teaching Experience. 13.01 Previous teaching experience in Ontario or equivalent as well as previous occasional teaching experience recognized by this Board and its predecessor boards prior to March 31, 1985 shall be recognized as teaching experience for the purpose of placing a Long- term Occasional Teacher on the Elementary Teachers' Salary Grid.
(a) In addition to Section 13.01, long-term occasional teaching experience since April 1, 1985 with this Board and its predecessor boards shall be recognized as teaching experience for the purpose of placing a long-term Occasional Teacher on the Elementary Teachers’ Salary Grid.
(b) In addition to section 13.01, short term (daily) occasional teaching experience with the Greater Essex County District School Board accumulated after September 1, 2002 shall be recognized as teaching experience for the purpose of placing a Long-term Occasional Teacher on the Elementary Teachers’ Salary Grid.
13.03 Experience calculated shall be added to an Occasional Teacher's previous experience and shall be effective as of the next school year.
13.04 Occasional teaching experience accumulated following ratification of this agreement shall be calculated on the basis of 194 days equal one year and shall be recorded each September 1st. Teaching experience under Sections 13.01 and 13.02 shall be cumulative from year to year and shall be calculated as follows:
(a) each full year of experience shall count as one (1) year;
(b) any remaining fraction of a year shall be calculated as follows:
i) less than 80 days in a given year --- No credit ii) 80 days and less than 160 days in a given year --- 1/2 year credit
Recognized Teaching Experience. The following shall apply for the purposes of determining teaching experience for the purposes of Article 7.1
Recognized Teaching Experience. Effective September 1, 1997, previous teaching experience in the Continuing Education Program (Adult Day School, Night School, Summer School, and Offsite Credit Programming) for the Simcoe County District School Board shall be recognized as teaching experience for the purpose of placing a teacher on the Continuing Education Teachers’ Salary Grid as set out in Article 14.03(a). Such experience shall be calculated on the basis of teaching one (1) credit being equal to 0.17 of one (1) year. Placement on the salary schedule shall be determined annually for such teachers as of September 1, by the number of prorated years of service. Movement to the next year on the salary schedule shall occur when a number of at least 0.5 above the current position on the salary schedule is calculated.
Recognized Teaching Experience. L16:01 a) The Board shall credit teaching experience for Long-Term assignments or contract teaching; such credit shall include one-tenth (1/10) of a year for each twenty (20) days of teaching in any combination of Long-Term Occasional Teaching assignments, rounded to the nearest one-tenth (1/10). To receive such experience credits from outside the Board, the Occasional Teacher shall provide a statement on official letterhead from the Board or Private School showing the dates and number of days in each assignment.
Recognized Teaching Experience. The calculation of years of teaching experience to be credited for salary calculation for long-term occasionals will be determined by calculating the total years of teaching experience to the end of June in the day school program in elementary and secondary schools in Ontario. Only experience as a probationary/permanent teacher and experience as a long-term occasional for periods of twenty (20) or more consecutive days of teaching shall be credited. The total number of complete teaching months ie. Periods of twenty (20) or more consecutive days of teaching shall be divided by ten (10). Periods of teaching experience of less than one month will be accumulated and rounded to complete months on the basis of (twenty) 20 days per month. Where the remainder in such division is 5 months or greater, an additional year will be granted.

In addition to Section .O extended occasional teaching experience in Ontario accumulated after September and short term (daily) occasional teaching experience with the Greater Essex County District School Board accumulated after September shall be recognized teaching experience for the purpose of placing an Extended Teacher on the Secondary Teachers' Salary Grid. Any extended occasional teaching experience recognized by the predecessor Boards prior to September shall also be recognized. Experience calculated shall be added to an Occasional Teacher's previous experience and shall be effective as of the next school year. Teaching experience shall be calculated on the basis of one (1) month equals year and shall be recorded each September 1st. An Occasional must be employed for at least one-half of the available school days in a given month to gain credit for a full month's teaching experience for that month. It is understood that a month begins with the first day of an extended assignment. experience under Sections and shall be cumulative from year to year and shall be calculated as follows:
Recognized Teaching Experience. (a) Previous contract teaching experience in Ontario or its equivalent elsewhere as well as previous occasional teaching experience recognized by the predecessor Boards in accordance with the applicable Collective Agreements, shall be recognized as teaching experience for the purpose of placing a teacher on the salary grid.
(b) In addition to 7.08 (a), long term occasional teaching experience in Ontario accumulated after September 1, 1998 and short term occasional teaching experience in Ontario accumulated after September 1, 2002 shall be recognized as teaching experience for the purpose of placing a teacher on the salary grid.
(c) Effective September 1, 2009, every credit taught through continuing education shall be recognized as 0.167 teaching experience.
