Rate of Pay on Return to State Service by Reemployment. When a former employee is appointed from reemployment to a position in the same classification in which they were previously employed or in a related classification with the same salary range, they may be paid at or below the step at which they were being paid at the time of their termination. If a person is reemployed in a position in a classification with a lower salary range than that of their previous position, they may be paid at any step in the lower salary range not exceeding the rate they were being paid in the higher classification, except where exceptional circumstances justify payment of a higher rate. The salary eligibility date of a former employee who is appointed from reemployment shall be determined in accordance with Section 7.
