Common use of Promotion to Higher Pay Range Clause in Contracts

Promotion to Higher Pay Range. The rate of pay of an employee promoted shall be established at the nearest point on the new pay range which exceeds his/her existing rate by at least 5%, but shall not exceed the maximum of the new pay range. Where however, the rate of pay prior to promotion is above the maximum of the new pay range, his/her present rate shall be retained.
