Priority in Vacancy Clause Samples

The 'Priority in Vacancy' clause establishes the order in which individuals or entities are considered for a position or opportunity when it becomes available. Typically, this clause outlines a hierarchy—such as current employees, internal candidates, or specific groups—who are given preference before the opportunity is offered to external candidates. By clearly defining who has first rights to fill a vacancy, the clause ensures a fair and transparent process, often supporting internal advancement and reducing disputes over selection.
Priority in Vacancy. A regular employee who is displaced from a job by virtue of technological change will be given an opportunity to submit an application for any job vacancies then existing or which become available within thirty-five (35) days of the effective date of displacement, in accordance with the Job Posting Procedures forming part of this Agreement. In the event that the employee does submit an application for such a job, the employee will be granted an interview in connection with the job vacancy. An employee may not receive both severance pay and a training period for work at a College position.
Priority in Vacancy. Employees laid off due to technological change shall be recalled in accordance with Article 12.6 ÑRecall, unless the employee has elected to take severance pay, in which case Article 12.3
