Pavement Smoothness Clause Samples

The Pavement Smoothness clause sets standards for the acceptable level of smoothness in newly constructed or resurfaced pavement. It typically requires the contractor to measure the finished surface using specified equipment, such as profilographs or straightedges, and to correct any areas that exceed allowable roughness thresholds. By establishing clear criteria for surface quality, this clause ensures a safer, more comfortable ride for road users and helps prevent premature pavement deterioration due to uneven surfaces.
