Common use of Overtime and Lieu Time Clause in Contracts

Overtime and Lieu Time. Employees shall be paid at the rate of time and one-half for all authorized work performed in excess of eight (8) hours per day (with the exception of the additional make-up time) and for all authorized work performed outside the employee’s regularly scheduled work week and at the rate of double time for all authorized work performed on Sunday and statutory holidays. An employee called in outside of the employee’s regular working hours will be paid a minimum of three (3) hours’ pay at the overtime rate. Custodians who work outside their regular working hours because of the Community Use of Schools Program shall receive a minimum of two (2) hours. Overtime and time in any school will be divided equitably among those employed in that school. If overtime is not accepted by staff at the school, the overtime will be offered to staff who have expressed an interest in being on the Board’s overtime roster. If that list is exhausted, the Board reserves the right to assign floater custodial staff to perform the hours.
