Observances. In most instances the date of the celebrations and/or commemoration(s) are known to employees well in advance, therefore the employee must notify their Supervisor as early as possible before the celebrations about their intent to observe the celebration. In the event that no celebration or commemoration is held on-campus, employees may observe a minute of silence on the days listed above. Requests will not be unreasonably denied.

The Company agrees to allow employees one (1) minute’s silence at 11:00 a.m. on April 28th of each year in observance of those workers killed on the job, one (1) minute’s silence at 11:00 a.m. on November 11 in remembrance of Canada’s wartime involvement and one (1) minute’s silence at 11:00 a.m. on December 6th in recognition of the concern about violence against women.

Observances.
a) The Employer agrees that employees will be allowed to observe one (1) minute of silence at 11:00 a.m. on April 28th of each year, in observance of those workers killed on the job. The Union and the employees agree that such observance shall not interfere with support to clients or slow work production.
b) The Employer agrees that employees will be allowed to observe one (1) minute of silence at 11:00 a.m. on December 6th of each year, in memory of women who have died during acts of violence. Observances. Members shall be entitled to make reasonable rearrangements of their duties upon due notice to permit them to observe the religious obligations and practices of their faiths. No member shall be subject to reprimand or formal warning or to any other form of discipline without just and reasonable cause, but non-renewal of a member with a probationary appointment at end of the stipulated term or the non-appointment of a limited term member to a further term shall not be considered as disciplinary, but rather shall be dealt with under the appropriate provisions of this Agreement. Such warning or reprimand or discipline shall be Confirmed in writing to the member and a copy placed in the member's file. Scholarly Misconduct The Policy on Scholarly Misconduct (referred to as "the policy"), approved by the Board of Governors of Trent University June is attached hereto as Appendix C and forms part of this Collective Agreement. Any statement made by a member named io an allegation during mediation or settlement discussion at any stage of procedure under the policy, including any meetings held under paragraph of the policy, shall be without prejudice and shall not be referred to or relied on in evidence at any later stage of the proceedings under the policy, including arbitration, or in proceedingsoutside the University. A member named in an allegation and attending a meeting held as part of a formal investigation under the policy may, if he or she so requests, be accompanied by a representative of the Association or, with the Association's written agreement, be represented by any willing person. Observances. (a) National Day of Mourning Each year on April 28 at 11:00 a.m., 1 minute of silence may be observed in memory of workers killed or injured on the job. If their immediate work responsibilities permit, employees who are members of the Central JHSC or of a JHSC may attend the University’s National Day of Mourning ceremonies; employees will exercise reasonable judgment having regard for their teaching responsibilities.
