MEMBERSHIP AND PARTICIPATION IN PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONS. Consistent with ethics laws and regulations, employees are encouraged to join and participate in professional organizations and their meetings. Expenses for such membership and/or participation in these meetings, including travel and per diem, will be borne by the employee. At the discretion of the Employer, employees may be authorized official time and/or travel expenses to participate in such meetings when workload permits and participation in the meeting is in the interest of the Employer. When an employee is directed by the Employer to join and participate in professional organizations and their meetings, expenses, including travel and per diem, will be borne by the Employer.
