Member Leave Protocol. When a Member Leave event happens, the key tree should be modified and some keys should be replaced for forward secrecy. Upon receiving the leaving message, all the members in the group will update the key tree accordingly and decide on a sponsor. Suppose a member Uc is leaving the group. Upon receiving the member leaving request, all the members in the group will agree on a sponsor and update the key tree as follows. If the parent node of the member node originally assigned to the leaving member has more than two child nodes, than the member node assigned to the leaving member is removed directly, and the sponsor is the member associated with the rightmost remaining child node under the deleted member node's parent node. Otherwise, if the parent node of the member node assigned to the leaving member has only two child nodes, after the removal of the member node assigned to the leaving member, there is only one child node left. The member associated with this solitary node is promoted and re-associated with its parent node and will be the sponsor; this solitary node is no more necessary and is removed too. After updating the key tree, the sponsor, who knows all the necessary keys, will stand out and be responsible for the key refreshing. The sponsor computes and updates all the blinded keys and union blinded keys of the nodes on its key path. Then, the sponsor will broadcast these refreshed keys to all of the group members. After receiving the broadcast message, each legitimate member in the group can derive all the key generation keys on his/her key path, and all the legitimate members can obtain the same new group key. Member Leave Protocol. We again have a group of n members when a member Md ( d ≤ n ) leaves the group. If d > 1, the sponsor Ms is the leaf node directly below the leaving member, i.e., M d– 1. Otherwise, the sponsor is M 2 . Upon hearing about the leave event from the group communication system, each remaining member updates its key tree by deleting the nodes LN〈d 〉 corresponding to Md and its parent node IN〈d〉 . The nodes above the leaving node are also renumbered. The former sibling IN〈d –1 〉 of Md is promoted to replace (former) Md ’s parent. The sponsor Ms selects a new secret session random, computes all keys (and blinded keys) up to the root, and broadcasts BT〈s〉 to the group. This information allows all members to recompute the new group key. In summary, the leave protocol takes one communication round and involves a single broadcast. The cryptographic cost varies depending on two factors: 1) the position of the departed member, and 2) the position of the remaining member who needs to compute the new key. The total number of serial cryptographic operations in the leave protocol can be expressed as (assuming n is the original group size): ■ 2(n – d ) + 1 + ( n – d ) + 1 = 3n – 3d + 2 when d > 2 ■ 3n – 7 when d = 1,2 In the worst case, M1 or M 2 leave the group. The cost for this leave operation is equal to the leave of member M3, which is 3n – 7. The average leave cost is 3n /2 + 2. The leave protocol provides forward secrecy since a former member cannot compute the new key owing to the sponsor’s changing the session random. The protocol also provides key independence since knowledge of the new key cannot be used to derive the previous keys; this is, again, due to the sponsor refreshing its session random.

  • Professional Improvement Leave A teacher may be granted leave to be used for the teacher's professional improvement. Professional improvement days may be approved by the superintendent and used for the purpose of: 1. Visitation to view other instructional techniques or programs. 2. Conferences, workshops, or seminars conducted by colleges, universities, or vocational schools. The teacher planning to use a professional improvement day shall notify the principal at least one week in advance of the proposed absence. The teacher shall be required to file a written report with the principal within one (1) week of attendance at such event. Also, the teacher may/shall be requested to return with materials and/or information to be shared with other teachers. The expense of attending such visitation, conference, workshop, or seminar will be paid by the Board when the proper reimbursement applications are sent to the district office. In cases where attendance at a convention, workshop, seminar, or other educational activity is deemed to be of value only to the individual teacher, leave may be granted for attendance with either no expenses or limited expenses being underwritten by the district. In these cases, no written or verbal reports will be required.

  • Catastrophic Leave Program Leave credits, as defined below, may be transferred from one (1) or more employees to another employee, on an hour-for-hour basis, in accordance with departmental policies upon the request of both the receiving employee and the transferring employee and upon approval of the employee's appointing authority, under the following conditions: A. The receiving employee is required to be absent from work due to injury or the prolonged illness of the employee, employee's spouse, registered domestic partner, a domestic partner listed on an “Affidavit for Enrollment of Domestic Partners,” submitted to employee benefits, parent or child, has exhausted all earned leave credits, including but not limited to sick leave, compensatory time, holiday credits and disability leave and is therefore facing financial hardship. B. The transfers must be for a minimum of four (4) hours and in whole hour increments thereafter. C. Transfers shall be allowed to cross-departmental lines in accordance with the policies of the receiving department. D. The total maximum leave credits received by an employee shall normally not exceed five hundred twenty (520) hours; however, if approved by his/her appointing authority, the total leave credits may be up to one thousand forty (1,040) hours. Total leave credits in excess of one thousand forty (1,040) hours will be considered on a case-by-case basis by the appointing authority subject to the approval of the Chief Administrative Officer. E. The transfers are irrevocable, and will be indistinguishable from other leave credits belonging to the receiving employee. Transfers will be subject to all taxes required by law. F. Leave credits that may be transferred under this program are defined as the transferring employee’s vacation credits or up to twenty-four (24) hours of sick leave per fiscal year. G. Transfers shall be administered according to the rules and regulations of the Auditor and Controller, and made on a form prescribed by the Auditor and Controller. Approvals of the receiving and donating employee, the donating employee's appointing authority and the receiving employee's appointing authority (in the case of an interdepartmental transfer) will be provided for on such form. H. This program is not subject to the Grievance Procedure of this Agreement.

  • Long Service Leave (1) Subject to subclause (3) of this clause, an employee who has completed ten years’ continuous service with the employer shall be entitled to (a) up to 31 December 2006, ten weeks’ long service leave (b) from 1 January 2007, thirteen weeks’ long service leave (c) For each subsequent period of ten years’ service an employee shall be entitled to an additional thirteen weeks’ long service leave. (2) An employee who has accrued a minimum entitlement of ten weeks’ long service leave shall be entitled to take such leave. (3) Employees are entitled to take long service leave in minimum periods of one week. (4) In calculating an employee’s entitlement under this clause, continuous service with the employer prior to the 1st day of January 1997 shall be taken into account in the following manner: (a) In the case of an employee who has already accrued an entitlement to long service leave with the employer prior to the 1st day of January, 1997, the employee shall continue to accrue subsequent entitlements to long service leave in accordance with the provisions of subclause (1) of this clause. (b) In the case of an employee who, at the 1st day of January 1997, had not accrued an entitlement to long service leave, the employee’s entitlement shall be calculated on the following basis: For any period of continuous employment prior to the 1st day of January 1997, an amount calculated on the basis of 13 weeks’ long service leave on full pay for each 15 years of continuous service, in accordance with the relevant award. (c) In the case of employees who have worked less than full-time during the accrual period, long service leave shall be paid at the rate of the average of hours worked over the accrual period. (5) The expression “continuous service” includes any period during which the employee is absent on full pay from their duties, but does not include: (a) Any period exceeding two weeks during which the employee is absent on leave without pay. In the case of leave without pay which exceeds eight weeks in a continuous period, the entire period of that leave is excised in full; (b) Any service of an employee who resigns or is dismissed, other than service prior to such resignation or prior to the date of any offence in respect of which they are dismissed by the employer, when that prior service has actually entitled the employee to long service leave under this clause. (6) Any entitlement to annual leave that falls due during the period of long service leave shall be recognised as extra leave and not included in the long service leave. (7) Any public holiday which occurs during the period an employee is on long service leave shall be treated as part of the long service leave and extra days in lieu thereof shall not be granted. (8) Where an employee has become entitled to a period of long service leave in accordance with this clause, the employee shall commence such leave as soon as possible after the accrual date, or in a manner mutually agreed between the employer and employee. (9) Payment for long service leave shall be made; (a) in full before the employee goes on leave, or (b) by the normal fortnightly payment intervals; (c) or by agreement between the employee and the employer. (10) Where an employee has completed at least 7 years’ service but less than 10 years’ service and employment is terminated- (a) by their death; (b) in any circumstances, other than serious misconduct, the amount of leave shall be such proportion to the number of completed years of such service bears to 10 years. (11) In the case to which subclause (8) of this clause applies and in any case in which the employment of the employee who has become entitled to leave hereunder is terminated before such leave is taken or fully taken the employer shall, upon termination of employment otherwise than by death, pay to the employee and upon termination by death, pay to the personal representative of the employee upon request by the personal representative, a sum equivalent to the amount which would have been payable in respect of the period of leave to which they are entitled or deemed to have been entitled and which would have been taken but for termination. Such payment shall be deemed to have satisfied the obligation of the employer in respect of leave hereunder. (12) Where an employee is ill during a period of long service leave and produces at the time, or as soon as practicable thereafter, medical evidence that would satisfy a reasonable person that as a result of illness or injury the employee was confined to their place of residence or a medical facility for a period of at least fourteen (14) consecutive days, the employer shall grant sick leave for the period the employee was so confined and reinstate long service leave equivalent to the period of confinement.
