Leadhand Defined. A Leadhand, when so designated and classified by the company, shall be defined as an Employee or Owner Operator who shall direct the work of other Employees or Owner Operators while performing similar work him/herself. He/she shall not have the authority to hire, fire, suspend or discipline Employees. He/she shall be a member of the Union and shall have seniority according to this Collective Agreement. Where the Company designates that a Leadhand and is required, a bid will be posted and the position will be filled with a qualified person that applies for the position. The Company shall have full discretion in the selection of the Leadhand, however, when qualifications are equal in every respect, the most senior person will be given preference.
