LAY-OFFS, TERMINATION OF EMPLOYMENT AND SEVERANCE PAY. 26.01 The Employer shall continue past practice in giving all reasonable consideration to continued employment in the Employer’s service of employees who would otherwise be laid off because of the elimination of their positions due to lack of work, technological changes, structural changes, changes in the work process or contracting out. The Employer wishes to keep the number of lay-offs to a minimum and shall make a reasonable attempt to offer a suitable position to any employee who has been laid off.
