Initial Leave. Upon hire, each unit employee in a permanent or limited term position shall be credited with an initial annual leave grant of sixteen (16) hours which shall be immediately available, upon approval of the Appointing Authority, for such purposes as voting, religious observance, and necessary personal business. The sixteen (16) hours initial grant of annual leave shall not be credited to a unit employee more than once in a calendar year.

  • Special Leave (a) Where leave from work is required, an employee shall be entitled to special leave at their regular rate of pay for the following:

  • Ceremonial Leave An employee who is legitimately required by Aboriginal and Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Islander tradition to be absent from work for Aboriginal and Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Islander ceremonial purposes will be entitled to up to ten working days unpaid leave in any one year, with the approval of the employer.

  • Xxxxx’s leave (1) An employee is entitled to use up to 10 days accrued personal leave each year to care for a member of his or her immediate family or a member of his or her household who is ill and requires his or her care. The employee is not entitled to take xxxxx’s leave for a particular period if another person has taken leave to care for the person for the same period.

  • General Leave Notwithstanding any provision for leave in this Agreement, the Employer may grant a leave of absence without pay to an employee requesting leave for an emergency or other unusual circumstances. A leave of absence may also be granted for any other reason in which case approval shall not be unreasonably withheld. All requests and approvals for leave shall be in writing. Upon request, the Employer will give reasons orally for withholding approval.

  • Sabbatical Leave The purpose of a sabbatical leave is to enhance professional development, support department/unit goals, and/or meet the instructional, service, or research priorities of the university.
