Indonesian Students’ Willingness to Communicate. (WTC) in English Language English is taught as a required topic in Indonesian secondary schools since it is the most popular foreign language in the country. However, this does not always imply that students have enough English speaking abilities to enable them to communicate in English. It is difficult to teach spoken English in non- English speaking countries. Teachers must be able to stimulate students' motivation to communicate in English, since it is critical for foreign language learners to be motivated to continue speaking English with their classmates. Spoken English abilities are critical for Indonesian students, particularly if they want to acquire a job requiring an interview in English. The majority of Indonesian students struggle with spoken English. In the Indonesian context, it was discovered that some English teachers still had difficulty motivating their students to speak English. Whenever their teachers pushed them to communicate in English with their classmates, the majority of students were nervous. Xxxxxxxxxxx et al. (2019) shown in the Indonesian setting that teacher encouragement effects students' WTC in terms of confidence, interpersonal, and intergroup motivation. According to Xxxx Xxxxxxx (2019), the proportion of students' utterances in English was greater than the percentage of students' utterances in Indonesian for the total spoken answers in the observed classrooms. Only 16.44 percent of the total students' spoken replies were provided in Indonesian during the classroom interactions analyzed. The students did their best to present themselves in the target language most of the time, although they had to blend English and Indonesian at times to make spoken replies.
