Disruptive Students. Employees who are faced with disruptive students shall follow the laws of the State of Michigan and the policies of the Coldwater Board of Education. All employees shall be advised as to the laws and policies concerning student discipline. Any case of assault upon an employee shall be promptly reported to the building principal/supervisor. The District will advise the employee of his/her rights and obligation to said assault and may give legal assistance in conjunction with handling of the incident by law enforcement and judicial authorities providing the employee has not gone beyond the district's expectations for job performance.

Disruptive Students. Teachers shall be protected from disruptive students in accordance with law and with procedures outlined in Appendix G of this Agreement.
Disruptive Students. Any student who is dismissed from school because of disruptive behavior will be accompanied on the bus by a qualified person.
Disruptive Students. When, in the judgment of the teacher, a student is, by his/her behavior, seriously disrupting the instructional program to the detriment of other students, the teacher may temporarily exclude the student from the classroom and refer him/her to the principal. Such exclusion is subject to an IEP, Section 504 requirements or a behavior plan which may be in place for certain students. Legal requirements in state and/or federal law, and these documents, may prevent exclusion in certain cases. Prior to return to the classroom in such cases, the principal or his/her representative shall arrange, under normal circumstances not later than the conclusion of the following school day, a conference among him/herself, the teacher and possibly an appropriate specialist to discuss the problem and decide upon appropriate steps for its resolution. When a teacher removes a student from the room, he/she shall remain in the responsibility of the teacher until the teacher informs the principal or his/her representative.
Disruptive Students. 7:2.1 As reflected in the prevailing Student Code of Conduct, an employee may remove from class or wherever disruptive behavior occurs, a student whose misbehavior or disruptive behavior makes the continued presence of the student in the classroom or wherever disruptive behavior occurs intolerable or detrimental to the other students. This will also include pre-school students not covered by the Student Code of Conduct. This student will be directed to an area designated by the building administrator. Unless specifically created for that purpose, or unless previously arranged by the affected teachers, or in case of extreme emergencies, where no other supervised areas is available, no employee's class will be used as a place to send disruptive students for disciplinary reasons or as a holding area for unsupervised students. This will include libraries and study halls. A student so excluded will be returned to class only after the building administrator or designee confers with the student and takes appropriate action in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct. Normally, when the student is returned to class, the employee will be informed as to what action has been taken. Additionally, when a written referral has been submitted, employees will be informed in writing within five (5) working days as to what action the administrator has taken.
Disruptive Students. 6:2.1 In accordance with the Colonial School District Student Code of Conduct, an employee may request an administrator or designee to remove a student from his/her classroom when the disruptive behavior or continued presence of that student is detrimental to the learning of other students. The office should be notified immediately of a student who must be removed from class, and normally, the student should be escorted from the classroom by an administrator or designee. A student so removed shall be returned to class only after administrative adjudication of the problem. Written notification of such adjudication shall be given to the employee within three (3) school days. The parties recognize that it is not desirable, except in cases of emergencies, to use an employee’s classroom or library as a place to send disruptive students or as a holding area for unsupervised students unless mutually agreed upon.

Disruptive Students. The unit member shall bring to the attention of the principal and/or designee any undisciplined student who is continually disrupting the classroom. Prompt action shall be taken by the Principal, the teacher, and the school specialists concerned to remedy the situation before the educational process of the rest of the class suffers. In conjunction with referring a student in their classroom, unit members shall notify parents of the behavioral issue. If the teacher feels the problem has not been solved, the teacher shall notify the superintendent of the situation. The teacher shall be responsible for handling the day-to-day discipline within and for his/her classroom. The administration shall be responsible for assisting and supporting the teacher in his/her handling of the day-to-day classroom discipline. When a specific request is made by the building administrator to assist with student discipline throughout the building, teachers will give such assistance as requested. It is understood that these requests for assistance will be limited and made only in cases of exceptional circumstances and must be limited to a singular incident and may not extend in duration of duty beyond one class period or the duration of the incident. Teachers assigned additional duty as part of their total work load (five classes plus one additional duty) shall be responsible for handling the day-to-day discipline within the assigned area with the assistance and support of the administration.

When, in the judgment of a teacher, a student is by his behavior seriously disrupting the instructional program to the detriment of other students, the teacher may send the student from the classroom and refer him /her to the principal, or his/her designee, together with a statement of the reason for such referral. In such cases, the teacher shall confer on the same day with the principal or his/her designee who, if necessary, shall arrange as soon as possible, and under normal circumstances not later than the conclusion of the following day, a conference between himself/herself and the teacher and any other appropriate persons to discuss the problem and to decide upon appropriate steps for its resolution.
Disruptive Students. When, in the judgment of a member, after exhausting all appropriate classroom remedies, a student's behavior seriously disrupts the instructional program to the detriment of other students, the member may request temporary removal of the student from the classroom and refer the student to the temporary custody of the immediate supervisor or the building principal. In such cases, the member's immediate supervisor shall arrange as soon as possible, and under normal circumstances, not later than the conclusion of the following day, a conference among the appropriate parties to discuss the problem with the objective of solving it. If said member objects to readmission of the student to the classroom, the matter shall, within twenty-four (24) hours or within a reasonable time, be referred to the appropriate Cabinet member who shall meet with the parties concerned and render a final decision.
