Dismissal and Suspension - Union Representation. Where the Employer calls a meeting with an employee for the express purpose of written discipline, suspension or dismissal of an employee, the employee may elect to have a Union Representative present. Where the employee elects not to have a Union Representative present or a Union Representative is not available, the absence of a Union Representative shall not affect the Employer’s right to discipline, suspend or dismiss and shall not be used as a reason to request an arbitrator to amend or overturn the action taken. The Employer agrees to make a reasonable effort to obtain a Union Representative where an Employee elects to have such representation.
