Common use of Departmental Representatives Clause in Contracts

Departmental Representatives. The Superintending Engineer during his absence of the work shall be representated by one of his subordinates whose duties in' relation to the contractor shall be confined to ensuring that the work is performed in conformity with the plans and specification in all respects. He shall communicate to the contractor the instructions and directions of the Superintending Engineer on all questions relating to the work and the contract or shall comply with such instructions and directions. He shall request the contractor in writing to suspend the perforrmance of any part of the work if, in his judgment the contractor is deviating from the plans and specifications inspite of his constructions and the contractor shall comply.
