Officer Step Length of service A Hire date until academy graduation C 12-24 months after academy graduation D 24-36 months after academy graduation E 36-48 months after academy graduation F 48+ months after academy graduation Lateral Entry officers will be appointed between steps C and D at the discretion of the Chief of Police. Lateral Entry officers may be appointed to step E or F at the discretion of the Chief of Police and with the Mayor’s approval.
