Damage to Personal Items. The Employer or Insurance Carrier will pay the cost of repairing or replacing eye glasses, watches, dentures, articles of clothing or other personal items damaged in the line of duty in accordance with applicable regulations of the State Administrative Board (Procedure 0620.02, issued January 6, 1997), and unless otherwise reimbursed. Claims shall be processed as expeditiously as possible and reimbursement for valid claims shall not be unduly delayed.

Damage to Personal Items. The Employer or Insurance Carrier will pay the cost of repairing or replacing personal effects (possessions owned by an employee) damaged or lost in the line of duty, in accordance with applicable laws and/or regulations of the State Administrative Board and unless otherwise reimbursed. The value of such articles shall be determined at the time damage occurs. The Employer shall make every reasonable effort to provide secure storage space for wearing apparel and personal property of the employees. Locations and a timetable will be taken up in secondary negotiations unless otherwise previously agreed to in secondary negotiations. The Employer shall make every reasonable effort to provide refrigerated space for employees. At the first scheduled Labor-Management Committee meeting following the effective date of this Agreement the Appointing Authority or designee shall meet with the Local Union President or designee to discuss the subject of storage and refrigerated space. Points of discussion shall include location and security. The Employer shall be held harmless for any losses that an employee may incur as a result of use of storage space or refrigerated space provided by the Employer. In the Departments of Health and Human Services, hospitals and centers, and Education, claims for personal property loss claims involving eyeglasses shall be handled in accordance with Appendix B.
Damage to Personal Items. The Employer agrees that bargaining unit employees may submit to the Employer requests for reimbursement for any personal items damaged in the performance of assigned duties up to a maximum of one hundred fifty dollars ($150.00) per occurrence for bargaining unit members of the Department of Natural Resources and to the maximum set in Chapter 80.18 of the Code of Iowa for officers of the Department of Public Safety. The Employer agrees that bargaining unit employees may submit requests to the State Appeal Board for claims denied by the Employer or which are in excess of the amount set in the previous paragraph. Such requests will be granted or denied in accordance with the applicable law. If the State Appeal Board requires that requests be submitted on special forms, the Employer will make such forms available to the employees. The employee’s immediate supervisor may at his/her discretion certify that personal items were lost or damaged in the performance of the employee’s assigned duty. The Employer shall make a good faith effort to expedite the claims submitted pursuant to this Section.

Damage to Personal Items i. Where an employee is requested by Council to use a personal item for a work purposes, and that personal item is damaged in the course of the employee’s duties, Council shall reimburse the employee a reasonable amount.
Damage to Personal Items. Where an employee during the course of work, sustains damage to clothing and personal items, ie prescription glasses, watches, etc [other than protective clothing issued by council which is covered by clause 40 of this Agreement] by fire, molten metal, tar or any corrosive substances or through any other circumstance which is not attributable to the employee’s negligence, the employee shall be compensated by council to an agreed amount.
Damage to Personal Items. In the event that an employee has damaged any personal item of clothing or equipment necessary and used in the performance of his duties as a police officer, the employee may submit a request for reimbursement to the Department Head and the City agrees to upon the recommendation of the Department Head to reimburse said employee for the items damaged of a personal nature, not to exceed two hundred fifty ($250) dollars per item for police employees and not to exceed one hundred ($100) dollars per item for non-police employees, provided proof of original purchase price has been provided.
Damage to Personal Items. Employees who have eyeglasses, watches or other personal property broken or destroyed, provided said employee is acting within the proper scope of his/her duties when on active duty, shall have the damaged item restored to its pre-damaged condition prior to the incident. The employee shall fully cooperate with the Department Head and County in pursuing, by all means necessary, restitution from the assailant.
