Common use of Criterion for Layoff Clause in Contracts

Criterion for Layoff. Length of service (seniority) shall be the only criterion used to effect layoffs. Length of service shall be calculated on date of hire within the classification worked. If two (2) or more employees within a classification have the same hire date, the longevity base date will be used to determine as to who shall be laid off first and if that date is the same then the first day of paid service with the District will be used, and if that is the same, then the determination will be made by lot.
