Continental Work Week. The Company and the Union agree that the continental work week referred to in the Memorandum of agreement is for all new employees hired after March 11, 1989, in the shipping and maintenance department. Continental work week means an employee may work any five (5) consecutive days with two (2) consecutive days off.
Continental Work Week. The Company will agree to the Union’s proposal regarding the implementation of a 5- day continental workweek on a trial basis, if the Union proposal does not result in higher cost compared to the current 3-shift schedule.
Continental Work Week. During the 2014 negotiations the Parties agreed that, subsequent to the renewal of the collective agreement which expired August 31, 2014 they would discuss the possibility of implementing continental work week schedules for a limited number of employees within the bargaining unit. This discussion may include implementation of twelve (12) hour shifts and may include schedules spanning weekends. The parties will discuss potential schedules and applicable premiums and other relevant concerns. The parties may, by mutual agreement, modify the existing premium pay provisions as a result of such discussions. In accordance with Section 17 of the Employment Standards Act, 2000 (“Act”), the parties agree as follows:

Continental Work Week. An alternative to the regular work week may be introduced under the following terms and conditions; The regular scheduled work week will be six (6) consecutive days. The regular work week for an employee shall consist of thirty six (36) hours divided in three (3) consecutive days of twelve (12) hours each to be worked from Monday 6:30 AM to Saturday 6:30 PM. Employees shall be compensated at the rate of thirty-seven and one half (37.5) hours pay per week even though only thirty-six (36) hours of work has actually been performed. The Employer will contribute the equivalent of five (5) shifts worth of contributions per week on behalf of all employees into the pension plan. If an employee becomes ill they will be paid on the following basis; - First 7.5 hours – no pay - Next 15 hours – full pay from the company - After the first 22.5 hours – group insurance All work performed on a Sunday shall be paid for at (2) times the regular rate of pay.
Continental Work Week. 1. The Company retains the right to maintain, or revert to, temporarily or permanently, the five-day work week (working Monday to Friday inclusive with Saturday and Sunday as rest days) for departments or classifications where this is deemed necessary.
2. In the event of departments or classifications reverting to the five day work week per (1) above, the Company will give 30 days notice prior to the re- implementation of the Continental Work Week for such department or classifications. If the five day work schedule has been in effect for more than six months, one month’s notice will be given. The Company will provide two (2) weeks notice to employees on the Continental Work Week if not required to work the upcoming Statutory Holiday. In the event of departments or classifications reverting to the five day work week per (1) above, for a two-week period at Christmas, Continental Work Week employees eligible to receive 80 hours pay over this period will receive 100 hours pay. Employees eligible for less than 80 hours pay for the period will receive less than 100 hours pay on a pro-rated basis.
