Twelve (12) hours shall constitute a non watchstanding day’s work, however, the hours are not required to be contiguous; allowing flexibility to accommodate variable operation activity and minimize overtime. RULE 19 MONTHLY WORK 19.01 Two (2) complete crews shall be assigned to each vessel with the workdays divided evenly during each year between the two (2) crews as nearly as practicable. Each crew will work two (2) weeks [fourteen (14) consecutive days] followed by two (2) weeks [fourteen (14) consecutive days] off duty with the alternate crew relieving. 19.02 If mutually agreed upon by two (2) Engineers in grade, they may work alternative schedules, such as four (4) weeks (twenty-eight consecutive days) on, followed by four (4) weeks (twenty-eight consecutive days) off rotation, provided they obtain the written approval of the General Manager, or designee, and the Union, and the Chief Engineers are informed. 19.03 It is understood that there shall be no overtime because either Engineer does not fulfill his part of the schedule while the vessel is on the run and this alternative schedule is in effect.
