Characterization of the Utah Catalysts Sample Clauses

Characterization of the Utah Catalysts. Following up on our earlier studies of the Co/xerogel catalysts synthesized by xxxx. Xxxxxx’x group at Utah, we received three samples of Co/aerogel samples whose analytical characterization was carried out during this period. A summary of our findings on the three samples using XRD, magnetic and EMR studies is given in Table II. In contrast to Co3O4 present in the Auburn samples, the Utah samples contain CoO and Co(0) and in the FT reaction, transformation of CoO to nanoparticles (NP) of Co(0) is quite evident. The XRD patterns shown in Fig. 2 are indicated of this, the results of which are confirmed by magnetic and EMR data. The observation of EMR line due to Co2+ indicates that the transformation CoO → Co(0) is not complete since such a line is not expected either from pure CoO or pure Co(0). The above results on the Co/aerogel samples will be combined with earlier results on Co/xerogel samples into a single publication in collaboration with Xxxxxxxxx Xxxxxx. Table II.
