Assignment Selection. Assignment selections shall be made as follows: A. Shift bidding shall take place once per year. Not later than the Monday of the first full week of December, the University, will determine and post the number of positions to be assigned to each work schedule, which will consist of two 6 month periods beginning with the first Sunday in March (the first 6 months) and the first Sunday in September (the second 6 months). This staffing determination will be consistent with efficient and effective operations of the Department. The University will post the schedule no less than 48 hours in advance of the time the selection process will formally begin. Each Bargaining Unit member will be assigned up to 48 hours in order of seniority to submit their shift bid request to the supervisor. The shift bid request will cover each of the six (6) month periods in the work schedule. During the 48 hour block assigned to each member no other bargaining unit member may submit a shift bid request unless notified that the prior person has already made his/her selection. B. Choices made pursuant to Sub-Section (A) will be honored except when the University determines that a particular Bargaining Unit member’s choice is inconsistent with Departmental goals and priorities, based on a demonstrated need and supported by documentation. C. Regardless of the foregoing provisions of this Section: 1. Only Bargaining Unit members who have been released from the formal C.T.O. program may be permitted to participate in the assignment selection process as described in sub- section A above. There shall be no exceptions to this requirement. Trainees, upon completion of the formal C.T.O. program, shall be placed into a shift at the discretion of Management and shall remain there until the next regularly scheduled shift assignment selection bid period. 2. However, if a dispatch trainee is released from the formal C.T.O program in the first 6 months, a re-bidding process to cover the second 6 months shall take place. If such re-bid process is needed it shall be done pursuant to the bidding procedure described in Subsection A above. This re-bid shall take place just prior to the beginning of the second vacation bid that will take place as per Section 20.4 (A). Management agrees to meet with the Union to discuss proposed options for the re-bid prior to the re-bid taking place. 3. During Bargaining Unit members’ probationary period, they may be reassigned to the C.T.O. program for any necessary or additional training. 4. No provision of this sub-section shall affect or modify Section 18.8 pertaining to work schedules.

No one other than Bargaining Unit members who have completed and successfully passed their newly-hired probation period (as it is defined in Article 12 herein) shall be permitted to participate in shift bidding and selection. Bidding will take place each year. Not later than the Monday of the first full week of December, June the University, Medical Center will determine and post the number of positions to be assigned to each the work schedule, which will consist of two 6 month periods beginning with the first Sunday in March (the first 6 months) and the first Sunday in September (the second 6 months). This staffing determination will be consistent with efficient and effective operations of the Department. The University will post the schedule no less than 48 hours in advance of the time the shift selection process will formally beginshall begin immediately upon posting. Each Bargaining bargaining Unit member will be assigned up to 48 forty-eight (48) hours in order of seniority as it is defined in this Sub- Section (17.9 A) to submit their shift bid request to the supervisor. The shift bid request will cover each of the six (6) month periods in the work schedule. During the 48 hour block assigned to each member no other bargaining unit member may submit a shift bid request unless notified that the prior person has already made his/her selectionmanager.
B. Choices made pursuant to Sub-Section (A) will be honored except when the University Medical Center determines that a particular Bargaining Unit member’s choice is inconsistent with Departmental goals and priorities, based on a demonstrated need and supported by documentation.
C. Regardless of the foregoing provisions of this Section:
1. Only Once the Medical Center has decided to fill a Medical Center Dispatcher vacancy, it will communicate its intention to post and fill the vacancy to bargaining unit members. The Bargaining Unit members who will have been released from seven (7) calendar days following the formal C.T.O. program announcement to determine if a rebid is desired. If no rebid request is submitted within the seven (7) calendar days, the Medical Center may be permitted to participate in post the assignment vacancy at its discretion. If a rebid is requested, within the seven (7) calendar days, the shift selection process as described in sub- section A aboveshall begin immediately upon posting. There shall be The Bargaining Unit will have seven (7) calendar days to conduct and communicate the complete bid request to the manager. If no exceptions to this requirement.
