Appointment Leave. To attend medical and dental appointments that cannot be arranged outside of normal working hours, subject to written notice as far in advance as possible. If a written notice is not received, no leave will be granted except in extenuating circumstances.

Appointment Leave a) The Employer shall allow time off, with pay for full time or temporary full time nurses, up to a maximum of twenty two and one half (22.50) hours per year to attend medical and dental appointments, when such appointments cannot be arranged outside of working hours. The Association agrees that nurses shall give seven (7) weeks notice in advance when requesting time off to attend such appointments, except in cases of emergency or extenuating circumstances.
Appointment Leave. Effective July 1, each employee shall receive sixteen (16) hours appointment leave to be used for medical or dental appointments. (Appointment leave must be used by June 30 of each year and is non-accumulative.)
Appointment Leave. (a) Whenever possible, Employees should endeavor to arrange medical and dental appointments outside working hours. Upon written request, an Employee will be granted up to twenty-five (25) hours of paid leave per fiscal year (April 1 – March 31) for the purpose of attending appointments provided that: they have been given authorization by the Employer. Such authorization will not be unreasonably denied.

If an Employee or their spouse/child, has an appointment with a medical practitioner that cannot be made outside working hours, that Employee shall be eligible to use their accumulated sick leave. The Town reserves the right to request a proof of appointment. The Town shall reimburse the Employee for any cost incurred for obtaining proof of appointment. It is the Employee's responsibility to return to work as soon as possible after the appointment is fulfilled.

If an employee needs to be absent from his/her work for the purpose of a medical and /or dental appointment, such time off may be granted subject to approval of the immediate supervisor and if prior notification is given. This time off shall appear on the time card each month. When using Appointment Leave, a doctor’s note confirming the appointment must be provided upon return to work if requested by the employee’s supervisor. If it is requested, the supervisor will inform the employee that he/she needs to provide the medical/dental note at the time the leave is requested.
