Annually Contracted Faculty. (1) During the first three years of employment at the University, an employee shall earn sick leave at the rate of 20 work days per academic year or 1.75 work days for each month, or major fraction thereof, of service under the employee's contract, whichever is greater. Thereafter, the employee shall earn sick leave at the rate of 1.75 workdays for each month, or major fraction thereof, of service under the employee's contract, irrespective of the term of the employee's contract. During the first three years of employment at the University, sick leave will be credited to employees at the beginning of each academic year. Thereafter, sick leave shall be earned on a monthly basis. No additional sick leave will accrue to an employee during a month in which that employee was on sick leave for the entire month. (2) Annually contracted faculty may accrue sick leave up to a maximum set at the equivalent of 1.5 years of service as defined by the State Universities Retirement System but may not use more sick leave than the number of working days left in the term of appointment. Excess non-compensable sick leave may be donated to the sick bank before it is eliminated on December 1, 2018.
