Alternative Work Schedule. As an alternative to the normal schedule described in the above section, employees may be granted the option to participate in an Alternative Work Schedule under the following terms and conditions: 7.7.1 An Alternative Work Schedule (AWS) is defined as: (a) 9/80 Alternate Work Schedule: An employee schedule of nine separate work days for a total of 80 hours during a Town-designated fourteen-day pay period, for which the schedule includes working four 9-hour days and one 8-hour day in one week and working four 9-hour days in the other week. For payroll purposes, the work week will begin and end between 11:00 a.m. and at 1:00 p.m. on each alternating day off in the fourteen-day pay period. The Town is in no way required to meet and confer with the T.E.A. prior to terminating the AWS and termination of the AWS is not subject to any grievance procedure. For example, if a holiday falls on a day the employee is scheduled to work nine (9) or ten (10) hours, the employee shall receive eight (8) hours of holiday pay and be required to use other accrued leaves to make up the extra one (1) or two (2) hours for that day to fulfill the regularly assigned schedule. (a) If a holiday occurs on a day that an employee is not scheduled to work, the employee shall receive eight (8) hours of floating holiday, which is not subject to cash-out.
