Common use of Absences Clause in Contracts

Absences. 38.5.1 An employee shall not be entitled to payment in respect of a public holiday if the employee fails to attend for duty on that day without reasonable excuse after having been notified by the employer seven days prior to the holiday that the employee was required to work. An employee may be notified at short notice to work on a holiday in cases of emergency. This paragraph shall not apply to Christmas or Easter holidays.
